Drupal status check

I've covered why Neem Tree recommends Drupal (and not Wordpress, or Joomla; although we love all free, and open source software), and played the prediction game by stating that Drupal's uptake is about to take a dramatic upswing.

Here's a look at some interesting numbers, to see if the above is borne out:

These are the compete.com results for the last year (08/07 - 08/08) for unique visitors to drupal.org, joomla.org, and wordpress.org. Wordpress has stellar 94.4% growth, while Drupal has a healthily sustainable 69.1% growth.

The Google trends for searches for the terms 'drupal', 'joomla', and 'wordpress', in the US for the last year indicate that interest is stronger for both Wordpress and Joomla.

The Alexa daily traffic rank trends for the last year also seem to indicate boosts for both Wordpress and Joomla.

While the trends don't prove the qualitative analysis of Drupal as superior software, they are not in keeping with my prediction for a significant Drupal uptick in 2008. Looks like we'll just have to step up and get the Drupal word out there some more. I'll start by shining the spotlight on some overlooked local Drupal successes:
